Washington’s ski season remains strong with fresh snowfall and more snow ahead. The heaviest 5-day snow forecast is centered in the northeastern Cascades near Muckamuck and Salmon Meadows, both expecting 11–15 inches. Mount Rainier’s Paradise area (near Crystal Mountain Resort) is also expected to see significant snowfall, up to 10 inches, with current snowpack over 140". Nearby Morse Lake and Corral Pass are also forecasted for 8–10 inches. Stevens Pass Resort is near Alpine Meadows and saw no new snow today, but holds a solid 68" base with 2" forecasted this week. Snoqualmie Pass area, close to Tinkham Creek and Stampede Pass, shows modest snowpack (60–70") but 7” of snow is expected by week’s end.

Mount Baker area, near Beaver Pass and Marten Ridge, picked up 1–2" of snow and holds deep bases exceeding 100", with an 8” forecast. White Pass and surrounding areas, including Bumping Ridge and Morse Lake, are also looking snowy with 3–8" on the way. Near the Olympic Peninsula, Buckinghorse and Waterhole sites are forecasting 9” of snow, impacting Hurricane Ridge area. Southern Cascades, including Swift Creek and June Lake near Mount St. Helens, expect 8" of snow with snowpacks nearing 280". Cities such as Leavenworth, Yakima, and Packwood may see travel impacts due to these snow events. For the best conditions, head toward Crystal Mountain or Mount Baker this weekend.



Washington state boasts a number of ski resorts that offer a variety of terrain and experiences for skiers and snowboarders. Some of the most popular resorts in the state include Crystal Mountain, Stevens Pass, Snoqualmie Pass, and Mount Baker.

Crystal Mountain, located in the Cascade Range, has an average snowfall of over 450 inches per season and boasts over 2,600 acres of skiable terrain. Stevens Pass, about an hour and a half from Seattle, has an average snowfall of over 450 inches per season and offers 1,125 acres of skiable terrain. Snoqualmie Pass, located close to Seattle, has an average snowfall of over 440 inches per season and offers over 1,200 acres of skiable terrain. Mount Baker, located in the North Cascades, has an average snowfall of over 650 inches per season and boasts over 1,000 acres of skiable terrain.

The snowpacks in Washington can vary greatly depending on the location and elevation of the resort. Generally, the snowpacks are deepest in the Cascade Range and the North Cascades, where the resorts with the highest average snowfall are located.

The best month to visit Washington for skiing typically falls between January and March, when the snowpacks are typically at their peak and the weather is often mild enough for comfortable skiing conditions.
